25 Years and Still Surprising!

In its 25 years on Maryland's Eastern Shore, Chesapeake Chamber Music has evolved and grown from the informal sponsor of a single concert for local music lovers to the organizing force behind a major music festival, which this year presented 13 different events over a period of 15 days. This year's Festival embraced not just traditional string and keyboard oriented classical chamber music, but also orchestral works arranged for chamber ensemble, a jazz concert offered free to the public, and performance by the young saxophone quartet that emerged the winner of CCM's recent Chamber Music Competition.

Take this opportunity to explore (and soon re-experience through live recordings) the musical riches of this year's Festival. Click here for a quick overview of the Festival, and for links to detailed performance listings.

That "Still Surprising" tag will come alive later this summer when Chesapeake Chamber Music presents the first Monty Alexander Jazz Festival, building upon last year's highly acclaimed concert by the Monty Alexander Trio. The trio returns this year in an expanded program that also includes the Grace Kelly Quintet and an innovative "conversation on Jazz" between Monty Alexander, Grace Kelly and the audience. Mark your calendars for what is sure to be a very popular event.
